  • Directly from you: When you create an account, fill out your profile, use the app's features, participate in activities or chat groups, or communicate with us.
  • Automatically through your device: Using app tracking technologies (such as cookies or mobile SDKs), we collect data related to device and user behavior for analytics and functionality purposes.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal and usage data for the following purposes:

  • To Provide the Platform: Operate core services, facilitate communication, and personalize user experiences (e.g., activity recommendations).

  • To Match You With Compatible Users: Your onboarding responses, including your self-identified social type, are used to personalize your experience and suggest people or groups that align with your preferences. This is a core feature of the Platform and involves automated processing to determine social compatibility.

All service providers are contractually obligated to protect your personal information and only use it for specified purposes aligned with this policy.

b. Legal and Regulatory Requirements

We may disclose information where required by law or legal process, such as:

  • In response to a subpoena, court order, or lawful request from law enforcement.
  • To comply with obligations under applicable provincial or federal law.
  • To protect the rights, safety, or property of Starsup Canada Corporation, our users, or the public.

c. Business Transactions

If we undergo a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users via the Platform or email of any such change in ownership or data control.

We retain personal data as long as necessary to:

  • Provide services to you.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Resolve disputes or enforce agreements.

When data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymize it. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us (see Section 10). We will respond in accordance with applicable privacy laws and timeframes.
